Tour Schedule

Arrival:

After arrival in JK Nyerere airport/Zanzibar you will meet our guide who will arrange your safari to Mafia Island by local flights. You'll be collected from the airport. Accommodation before the tour starts can be arranged for an extra cost.

Day 1: Whale Shark Swimming

After breakfast around 8:00 Am, you will depart the lodge for a trip to see the Whale shark! These beautiful giants are seasonally found just a few hundred meters offshore near Kilindoni Harbour. A short boat ride towards the west brings us to a feeding ground for the sharks and soon fins and dark shapes are apparent.

Up to 24 can be seen at one time: males, females, and juveniles, all beautifully marked with stripes and spots. The larger sharks are estimated at over 12 m long, so they are an impressive sight next to the boat, and quite stunning under the water.

The boat is able to move among them quietly and you can swim and snorkel to get a closer, underwater view of these gentle, wonderful animals. The sharks remain in a well-defined area and have a repetitive for them.

Later you will have lunch at the Sand Bank before heading back to the lodge for Relaxation Dinner & Overnight.

Day 2: Snorkeling & Visit Blue Lagoon

After breakfast around 8:00 Am, you will depart the lodge to the best reefs in Chole Bay to snorkel with the abundant marine life you might spot octopus, moray eels, turtles, and seahorse, you will have no less than 3hrs to enjoy a snorkeling excursion

After having wonderful snorkeling you will be taken to visit one of the Mafia Islands' hidden secrets, the beautiful lagoon. You will enter the mangrove are on a boat, where you will notice the waters change to an impossible color of blue. A short 1-minute walk on the island will take you to a secluded lagoon, resident of the upside-down jellyfish. It really does need to be seen to be believed! Lunch can be served at the lagoon or on the boat, you decide.

Later Evening you will be taken back to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Whale Shark Watching and Visit Chole Island

After breakfast around 8:00 Am, you will depart the lodge for a trip to watch and Continue to Experience the ultimate snorkeling experience swimming with the mystical gentle giants of the ocean you will keep enjoying every moment with them while taking as many pictures as you can for your memory back home.

Then you will be taken to Chole Island is what's probably east African only fruit Bat Sanctuary, a great place to meet with locals, The right place to discover more about Slave Trade Market as well as Sunset Sailing.

After a tour to the Chole Village, you will say goodbye to the villagers and you will head back to the lodge for Relaxation Dinner & Overnight.

Day 4: Mafia Island - Dar Es Salaam

Today is the last day at Mafia Island, therefore you will spend in other activities before fly back to Dar Es Salaam. Such Activities include Fishing (For an extra cost) Snorkeling, Visiting the nearest villages and beaches such as Miewe, Mvinje, and Mchangani. Later in the afternoon, you will be transferred to the Mafia Airstrip for your flight to Dar Es Salaam. Additional accommodation can be arranged for an extra cost.
